New opening hours from September 2025
We are going to be extending our opening hours to 4.30pm each day, meaning there will be an additional collection time option of 4.30pm. Due to the new government funding coming in for working parents from September 2025, all children over 9 months old will receive 30 hours of funded childcare. As this government initiative is to support parents to return to work our aim is to also support families in doing so.

Christmas Charity Fun Day
Fun was had by all who attended our Christmas Family Funday in aid of Chestnut Tree House on Saturday 21st December. Opened by Worthing’s fabulous town crier Bob Smytherman and Chestnut Trees mascot Sidney the Squirrel there were plenty of very reasonably priced festive themed activities for children, icing biscuits, hook a duck, making decorations, playing Christmas games, and amazing face painting by Georgina. Hundreds attended with over 100 children visited Father Christmas in his very sparkly grotto, who took the time to ensure that all the children who visited him had a great experience. Elsa and Anna were in attendance and there was also an additional session before opening for SEN children to attend and meet Santa before the crowds arrived. An outstanding £1857 was raised for Chestnut Tree House at this magical Christmas event with more events being planned for the upcoming year.

Summer holiday club
We have all had the best time at our first ever summer holiday club!
We decorated our own cakes and doughnuts and did lots of baking (and eating!) with our baking theme. Next we made princess wands, played a game of pin the star on the Captain America shield, made a giant spiders web and spiderman cakes for our Princess’s and Superheroes theme. Then we hunted for bugs, decorated insects to make keyrings, mde teloscopes and compared animal and people footprints sizes for our Explorers theme. Lastly we explored all things about the seaside for our beach theme, having a sea creature treasure hunt, decorated fish and jellyfish pictures, made our own fishing rods complete with fish to catch, counted ice creams in our ice cream shop and had adventures in our pirate ship.
We finished our holiday club with a treat of serving ourselves our own ice cream sundae’s complete with soooo many sprinkles!
It was so lovely to see so many of our preschool children over the long break, and a huge thankyou to all the staff who happily came in over the summer to help.
I feel a little Christmas club might be on the horizon!

Pet Week
We had a wonderful hands on experience for the children this half term in pet week, where we could all get up close and personel to a range of animals. We had dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, a tortoise and even a bearded dragon!
As part of Pet week, we have all so loved watching our duckling eggs hatch and grow before our eyes and they certainly got a lot bigger in the week they were with us! It was very funny to watch them have their first paddle and as they grew in confidence for their first swim!

Preschool children Holiday Club 2024
We have been looking into the possibility of running a holiday club during the summer holidays for our Laugh and Learn preschool children to support our parents over the long summer holidays, and to enable the children to continue to have access to lots of fun and hands on learning with the Laugh and Learn Ladies in a setting they are already familiar with.
We can now confirm that the holiday club will be running for the Tuesdays and Thursdays in August, booking forms will be coming out after the Easter holidays.

Local Care home visit
We had a lovely morning visiting Tarring Manor care home with a small group of children doing lots of painting, drawing, playing Jenga, doing puzzles, playing games and chatting with the residents. What a lovely opportunity for us to build relationships in our community and for all to learn and share experiences with each other. We will be taking another group of children soon.

Preschool Holiday Club 2024
With many of us being parents ourselves we are aware that there are very little opportunities for preschool age children to attend holiday clubs locally and as previously advised with the summer holidays being 8 weeks long this year we are looking into the possibility of a holiday club for our Preschool children. This would be to support our parents and to enable the children to continue to have access to lots of fun and hands on learning with the Laugh and Learn Ladies and in a setting they are already familiar with.
Do let us know if this is something that would be of interest to you to enable us to see if there would be enough numbers for the holiday club to go ahead.
